33 quit again??????
Driving down road this morning, felt engine miss slightly, drove another half mile and engine was missing badly, pulled over and it died. Was able to restart for a moment, then dead again. Second time this has happened, pulled it back to barn, 6.3 volts at new battery, weak spark at plugs. Ignition switch plate is NOS, Skip rebuilt coil, vertex condenser, didn't have time to crawl under it. Thoughts? Thanks.

Re: 33 quit again??????
Sounds like you have most of the 'usual subjects' covered but you didn't mention anything about the carb/fuel. Could it have flooded out?....

Re: 33 quit again??????
Check the ignition switch on the steering column. They get dirty & pitted and will heat up causing a high resistance to the coil.

Re: 33 quit again??????
I agree with petehoovie. Resistor is an easy fix so try that first.
I had a 37 that I rebuilt everything only to find the resistor was bad. Could drive it for about 20 minutes then would start missing and kept getting worse till it quit. |

Re: 33 quit again??????
Even though you MAY have a good condenser you really don't know if its good enough. Just fit another condenser for a quick test. Condensers give a fair amount of trouble and cause the problems you describe. Regards. Kevin.

Re: 33 quit again??????
Well, it started this morning, and gas pouring out the top of my Stromberg 97, guess some crud is stuck in it. Have a newly rebuilt, fuel pump, new fuel hose, (No inline filter).
