Default Choke and throttle dash grommets

I would like to change the worn dash and throttle grommets that are used to hold the rods that go thru the dash to the carburetor. How do I detach the rods so that I can accomplish this? The plastic knobs don't seem to come off. I do see that the rods have a connector on the rod shafts, however they seem to be crimped on. Can someone advise how to separate the rods. All comments are appreciated. This is on my 1935 Cabriolet.

You will have to cut the rods and then use a sleeve with two screws to reconnect them. The sleeve is available at most old Ford parts places. Reconnect them up under the dash where they will not be seen.

Stan, The rubber grommets which fit into the dash (instrument) panel are split and will just slip over the choke and throttle rods and then push into the hole in the dash. No need to remove the rods. The split in the rubber is very hard to see but its there. Available in several colours to match the dash. Macs and others have them. Regards, Kevin.

Looks like senility is catching up on me. I was thinking rods, not grommets, yes,, grommets are split and no cutting needed.
