Re: 32 Ford mystery photo
Bob,
With respect, at that time Ford France did not have the capability to "build" (as in manufacture) finished bodies nor complete vehicles, but rather it was an assembly operation. The saloon bodies came from England as did the four-cylinder engines, and chassis components. The V-8 engines and the non-saloon bodies were sourced from North America, likely in knocked down (KD) or slightly knocked down (SKD) form rather than assembled form. Like all of the other European Ford operations of the period (with the exception of Ford Ireland), Ford France was a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, Limited (UK). Re: 32 Ford mystery photo
It's obvious from the photos in responses 18 and 19 that the housings are unique as well. Plus it appears that they are somewhat larger in diameter than the ROW headlamps.
The Marchals have a stepped housing like the Model 14 Lucas lamps used in '33-'34 in the U.K. and like those lamps are more pointed at the rear of the housing. Last edited by DavidG; 08-07-2019 at 06:58 PM. |

Re: 32 Ford mystery photo
Here is a newspaper pic of a new owner taking delivery of his brand new '32 roadster in Eastern France.Notice the horn-not US style.Made by Duceiller and beep type. The guys here do not like those lights and prefer the US style.I offered to trade a set of USA lights for those on that car when I took the pic but he declined. They to me are simply stunning.

Interesting picture and note on the horn, although I can't see the whole horn, it sure looks like the one that was on our German 32. Still have it as dad immediately took it off for the "standard" 32 horn. To shed some more light on the Marchal's, Sitilla (Spelling) also has a "similar" style head light too. Our European fans will know the brand better!! Last edited by rockfla; 08-08-2019 at 09:40 AM. |

Re: 32 Ford mystery photo
According to the French "Catalogue Général des Pièces Détachées" (Overall/General Catalog of Spare Parts) for V8 and 4 cylinder cars from 1928-1934:
....the 1932 French Ford Marchal headlights look like this: ....and here are the relevant pages for the headlight parts in that catalog: About the horns on 1932 French Fords, according to the September 1933 French Ford parts catalog, 1932 French Fords came with horns provided by three manufacturers: Phenix, Bosch-Lavalette and Klaxonet. Here is a photo of the relevant section in that parts catalog: Unfortunately, that parts catalog does not have a picture of any of those horns.
