Default Dash Lighting

On the late '31's -- how was the dash panel lighted during nite driving.
Or was it?
Thanks

You can see the instrument light in this picture of Marco's.

And boy does it get HOT if you use an incandescent bulb. I use a LED. Some wire it to their tail lights so it comes on anytime you have your lights on.

BEST tip ever re: dash light is to install a 12 volt bulb in your 6 volt system!

This REALLY gets rid of that horrible glare!

I have mine wired like Ruth suggested.

What LED bulb did you use?

OK< but I see no evidence I've ever had one -- this requires me to drill a new hole? Pride myself on refusing to drill on something that's this aged.
Thanks

It is mounted with one of the dash rail bolts! No drilling required.

Carl, I used this one from Superbright LEDs https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...rofit-car/169/

I used the forward firing firing natural white bulb so it would not be too bright. I was concerned a side firing LED would have too much glare on the chrome dash. By using a forward firing LED, the light is defused some in the dash light cover. Gives off a nice warm light.

Almost forgot, my system is 12v.

Thanks Ruth.
I do have a 12 volt system. Already have LED tail/stop/turn on the rear and am in the process of installing LED headlights. Next will be the cowl/turn lights on the front.
