Default Where do you buy header pipe and bends?

Hello all... Im getting ready to mock up a twin turbo setup on one of my spare motors.. Its going to be on one of my 41' V8 motors.

My question is, where do you buy header tubing, 45. 90, and U bends? Im looking for 1in or 1 1/4in. Any thoughts? Ive already made my flanges.. Just need pipe.

Im sure ill get negative remarks, but just to put people at ease, its going to be more for looks than function. I will keep the boost only high enough to hear the turbos. Not looking for any HP gain.

PS.. I accidentally posted this earlier in the Model A forum.. If someone knows how to delete it Id appreciate it!

Maybe you can check with a custom exhaust shop in your area. I'd bet a google search would come up with something as well. Keep us posted. Why not go for HP gains?

Seth.. I live in a town of 250 people and its 30 miles in either direction to another town. I have two gas stations (no mechanics) and a Subway Sandwich shop. I rely heavily on this little box and keyboard to make the UPS truck show up.. lol

Lecktrix, don't think you'll upset many. Lot's of us trick out our flatty's. Try places like Jegs i.e., http://www.jegs.com/c/Exhaust-Header...10263/10002/-1
There are many others on the internet. Show some pic's when your done.

I would suggest Jegs or Summit. If you can weld that is the best way to go, most local muffler type shops use the style of tube benders that smash and wrinkle the tubing.

summit has the smooth wrinkle free bends, if you don't see them in the catalog call and talk to a service tech

HaHa! I understand. The people at the Subway shops around here struggle to make a decent sandwich, forget them giving advice on exhaust headers.

The best quality exhaust supplies you can find (bends, collectors, flanges, and tube) is from Burns Exhaust. Be prepared to pay for it, but I can tell you that you won't find nicer pieces.

If having non-uniform bends, or tubes with random mandrel lines in them is ok, you can get that at a cheaper price.....

Ok... Ive decided to buy my flanges from Reds, and I got a weld up 1 5/8 kit from Summit for $99 free shipping! If work doesn't get in the way (damn almighty dollar), I should be able to start fabbing up the headers next week. Ill keep you guys informed with pictures. Ill probably start another thread, so keep your eye out!!

Thanks again!! I love this place!

Where is this town? Sounds to me that you live in a little piece of heaven.
I'm truly jealous.

We have an excellent muffler shop in our city, and they make up pipes for use for all kinds of applications cheaper than we can do it ourselves. I have yet to see a driver's side flathead headpipe that is premade and actually just bolts on. If you want a swing at it, most shops sell pipe stock by the foot.

Jegs has Dynomax mandrel-bent pieces. Nice smooth bends. Aluminized steel. Free shipping even on small purchase. Great prices. Hard to beat.,...jack

Goggle?? Lol... I just pulled my grandkid out of the pool and he had his 'Goggles' on..

Ive been there... Search Google for header pipes and you have no idea what you get... Yes, im a helluva internet geek, but you cant get what you want until you visit your local parts store/speed shop.... BUT, they dont exist anymore, so I have to rely on my buddies on the 'Ford Barn' which is The new parts house, gurus, geeks, know it alls, old guys, veterans, hot rodders, crafters, visionarys, am I missing anyone? I love the internet and this site!!

Columbia River Mandrel Bending. I think their website is mandrel-bends.com.

I'd use search terms such as "mandrel bends", "exhaust tubing", "header tubing", or similar. You're actually looking for tube, not pipe.

Columbia River, SPD, Burns, Cone Engineering, Stainless Headers Mfg, Summit Racing, Jegs, and others can all supply you with what you'd need.

This may also be of interest to you to make your header building journey a bit less of a head(er)ache:
