Default 34 pick up battery

I can't seem to find a 6 V battery for my 34 pick up anyone know where to go to get one? It seems I am not the only one with this problem.

Try Interstate Battery. Recommend an Optima myself.

NAPA and Tractor Supply are also sources.

The problem I experienced, is that the current batteries are a little too tall to fit the 34. I solved this by fabricating my own battery holder, dropping the battery just enough to clear the floor. Eventually, I went with an Optima, which I was free to mount any way I wanted, even on its side. I've also experienced 'poor life' from the wet batteries. My current Optima is about 14 years old, and still seems to be ok. In the meantime, I've had two wet batteries, one lasted two years, one lasted three years. My local jobber tells me that the current Optima's are having a high failure rate, with many lasting less than a year. A week ago, I was at his counter when a customer brought in a red-top, less than a year old. It tested at over 11 volts, but had only 2 (yes, 2) CCA. It wouldn't respond to Optima charging techniques. So, bottom line, I'm hesitant to recommend ANY current battery. It seems like a crap shoot.
