I'm in several clubs and most of them have an event each month. We have poker runs, garage tours, tours through engine builder's facilities, historical attractions, etc. Usually, the runs are a one-day event, but we've also done weekend tours and one club has a "1000-Mile Tour" every other year which is a week long tour.

Lots of things to see & do in this great country. Just pick something that you always wanted to do and do it !

I would take a page out of "Ole Henry's" book and plan a trip (cruise)as he does.
As I recall from my Philmont days, there are many places of historic value in New Mexico.

We have done a garage tour but only to my house, hard to get other members to participate at their house. I'll look into a business place for a tour.

My model A club has about 2 tours a month. There are great things to visit close to home in any state. These are usually one day events with visits to a local place of interest and lunch. We try to find a scenic route, off the beaten path to get there and a different one back home.

We also have a 3day tour the first of June every year.

Want some excitement?

Have a cruise and let the wives/girlfriends drive.

This usually works better in states with open container laws ... and liberal community property laws.

... at least when you meet up to start your next cruise, announce that the women are going to be driving. Watch the response.

Maybe just cruise around to see who can spot the most Flying Saucer crash sites.

Good suggestions everyone. Hoop I think some of us might end up looking like your avatar if the ladies drove.

Her driving is fine. Her temper is terrible ... especially when she's drinking.

(I made the mistake of telling her she shouldn't be texting while driving the '35 pickup. Wish she had slowed down before kicking me out.)

I used to belong to the Roadrunner RG north of the OP, and they did longer cruises once or twice a year. The problem in NM is that distances are pretty long between "points of interest" compared to back east or on the coasts. Down in Roswell I imagine you could easily put on 250 miles (RT) and through some pretty desolate country. We were fortunate to be an hour from the northern mountains where there are a lot of interesting sites, but driving up there requires cars in good condition throughout, especially brakes.

One thing we did that was interesting and didn't involve lots of driving was to put on a parking lot "show" at a retirement home/assisted living facility. Obviously a good audience for old cars, for people who can't always get out and around. Lots of interesting stories from the folks there.

I have been organizing monthly "excursions" as I call them. A couple of hours out and back over a scenic route with a neat destination along the way, with a stop for lunch. They have been a lot of fun so far.

Was your avatar picture taken before or after the "wives drive" suggestion?
