If anyone really wants to know all about Fords worldwide methods & how the Depression, War & local govt.s affected business, get a copy of 'American Business Abroad' - Ford on 6 Continents by Wilkins,& Hill. [ Amazon, new reprint] Covers from Model T up to 1960 by 2 economic experts of Ford who had full access to records. My own little obscure country at the bottom of the world even gets a mention. Most information on Ford, especially on the 'net is suspect at least. Cheers - Tom in NZ.

Europe was a group of separate countries in that time frame so they all had different regulations to abide by. The UK had different tax regulation on the size and horse power an engine could be. This led to some interesting ways of computing horse power. It was a lot different political environment in Europe than the USA was at the time and it's still different in a lot of ways.
Just finished reading that. It is also interesting that Hicks was one of the engineers that flew through the windshield during a test drive of the Model A, which convinced Henry to use safety glass in production cars.
