46 ford light switch
I was pulling on light switch and shaft with knob came out! Thought you just pushed in quick and hard to lock it in but its not working. HOW do I get this shaft to stay in the switch?? Thank you!

Re: 46 ford light switch
there should be a metal tab on the switch. depress it and insert the shaft. the tab will lock it in place. the tab can be a bitch to find. as I remember you pull it towards the switch body to lock/unlock. seems like it is on top of the switch. If all else fails pull the switch out and look for the locking tab. Go to Mac's auto parts, search Ford Pickup Truck Headlight Switch - Original Type - F1 Thru F5. Part #: 48-10945-1 I believe the brass piece in the middle is the shaft lock

Pro tip: Disconnect the battery before handling the light switch. Pro tip deuce: The shaft should be in the off position for any work.
