well instead of going to to all the high dollor gold card crap la ta da if you want to do it the the cheap and also effetive way get your phone call autozone near you and ask for a 1979 ford f100 302 motor mounts they are 8.50 a piece and then find a tractor supply on the way back from autozone stop there go into the section were they sell welders some were in the front of the isle you will see a rack with various size of steel get one piece of 1/4 thick 4 inch wide plate steel they are abought 20 inches long and are abought 13 dollors after tax take these items home bolt on motor mounts set engine in place find a floor jack lift trans level with mount on crossmember find a drill and 1/2 drill bitt find a grinder with cutting disk you are going to be missing the holes buy 2 and 1/4 inches take your tractor supply piece of steel place it up in there mesure your mark with marker cut off go back slowly jack up trans were you have just enough room to let the trans mounts bolts sit on the steel trace around them with majik marker the best you can the smaller kids marker works the best then go under the y block trans mount upward mark the holes take out go drill holes find correct bolts tourqe to 35-40 pounds you can call auto zone and get pricing on a aod yoke but junk yard is cheaper or if you get your 5.0 save the drive shaft anyhow you must use the aod yoke the y block yoke will not work but the u joints in the yoke are the same if will fit right in then bolt in drive shaft and titen bolts uderneath motor mounts tourqe to 45 pounds that part is done then use your short nose water pump but what these ford gurus here are not telling you is gonna be your next problem when you use you modern alt wich you should because if your gonna run modern 5.0 and you use the module with the distributor the generator will not keep up voltage at idle it has to be a constant 14.6 volts to run right when you get the alt with engine also grab voltage reg and now your pulley from the 5.0 will be back too far you need to run a waterpump pulley from 1964-67 mustang also fan spacer and fan or around the same size if you have anymore problems with this pm me and i will email wiring diagrams and a how to video but this is pretty simple take high dollor fab shop money your gonna save and buy something else for you or your rod

Rear sump pans can be found on P/Us and vans.

Just out of curiosity; what do you plan on doing with the old 312 Y-block?

302s are a dime a dozen. But I am also interested in the sale of the 312.

If you do the engine swap, watch everyone come out of the woodwork for the 312.
Depending on what is fitted to the 312 it is probably worth way more than most 302's. Especially to y block afficianados. I know what i would rather. Remember the old adage of the 80's and 90's - dare to be different!

I took a siezed 312 out of my 56 merc, with mercomatic and put a 302/C4 combo in by just using early Mustang mounts and stock cross member. Trans was off 3/8", so I made a plate. Had to shorten drive shaft to get rid of slight vibration around 60mph. Been in for 19 years and working fine.

the 302 is an xlnt choice, the parts are readily available and cheap, a ton of them in wrecking yards, i can not say the same for the 312, the 312 is a nice nostaligic engine, but is not my choice for an ever day or long distant engine, for the above stated reasons
