32-34 Ford Pickup owners-- Hardware question
Do any of you guys own a UNRESTORED 32-34 Pickup? If so, could you be so kind as to telling me the correct hardware that attaches the tail lamp brackets to the bed (I.E. hex bolt length and type of washers?) I have tried to research in the Parts catalog which seems to not list the hardware for them..
THANK YOU! |

Re: 32-34 Ford Pickup owners-- Hardware question
I think the bolt is 1-1/4" long with both a lock and flat washer. I will check and try to post a picture for you.

In the 1932 parts book it shows 20366-S bracket to frame bolt B-78, 21531-S
bracket to support bolt B-78 and 34846-S Washer. |

Re: 32-34 Ford Pickup owners-- Hardware question
With respect, that listing is in error, which is not a first in the catalog. 21531-S is a 5/16-18 x 2 1/2 hex head bolt, which makes no sense on two counts. First, it is way, way too long for the application and second, the thread count should be 24, not 18. The listing for the nut (33798-S7) is correct (5/16-24) as is the 33846-S 5/16 lock washer.
A 20336-S bolt is also listed on the wrong line in the catalog, but it also has course threads, which Ford would not have used in that application. However, judging from the thickness of the bracket and the heavy sheet metal lip on the lower edge of the bed and the extended section for the third bolt attachment, I think that the length of 20336-S is correct, namely 7/8". So, Michael, I think you could safely use three 20367-S2 hex head bolts (5/16-24 x 7/8), 33798-S7 nuts, and 34846-S2 washers for your kit. I believe that the reason a cadmium-plated nut was used was to ensure electrical grounding longevity. |

As there is a hole in the bed above the bracket was there ever a support of any kind in there to the top empty hole? |

Just the doubler that served for the third, inboard attachment point. It reinforced the other two holes in the lower bed flange.

Re: 32-34 Ford Pickup owners-- Hardware question
David does that doubler go up the side of the bed at all or only mount to thr bottom flange?
Thanks. |
