Default I Need Photos - Electric Windshield Wiper

I have a Model A street rod registered as a 1930 but it came with a manually operated windshield wiper. I want to convert it to an original Trico electric wiper system but am a little confused about what modifications I need to do. I just bought a chrome 6V electric unit that I assume installs somehow into the inside of the upper windshield frame which is a tilting frame. I will use a voltage converter so as not to burn it up. I would appreciate any photos of a similar unit installed to help me figure out how the installation should be done. It almost looks like I may have to cut away a small part of the header panel to get clearance for the new unit. Photos or instructions will be very helpful. Last thing I want to do is butcher my car. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There is currently a very nice unit available in either 6 or 12v. Roughly $290. Look up Berts Model "A"parts online for a picture. There are several available but this is the best imho.

Check out the electric wipers offered by Newport Engineering. They fit and work perfectly. That’s what I have on my ‘31 pickup.

Thanks, Guys, but I would like to see photos of car interiors with original Trico electric drives installed. I want my installation to look original if possible. I already checked out Bert's and Newport Engineering units. Nice, but not original.

Those photos are very helpful. The photos resemble installation of a Bert's unit that mounts on the outside of the windshield frame. However, the motor I bought is a chromed Trico unit and obviously mounts to the inside of the windshield. It would appear that to mount this Trico unit that a section of the header bar might need to be removed to make room. Still hoping to find photos of the Trico electric unit installed on a Model A. Even the Trico vacuum unit photos would be helpful. SOMEONE must have one.

Trico didn't make electric wipers in the model A era. The electric wipers were manufactured by Owen-Dyneto, Heinze Electric, and E.A. Laboratories. A 1930 closed car could have any one of them unless if was manufactured after June or so of that year. All cars came with the vacuum operated Trico after that. The Dyneto was likely the most common electric wiper.

My apologies to the number of original Model A guys who read this. My car is a street rod. I'm not modifying it to attempt to be a 100 point car. I just want to add a couple of features to it that "look" like they belong. I am a newbie so please go gently. I am still hoping that someone out there may have converted their hand operated wiper to either a vacuum or electric unit that mounts on the inside of the car and will post pics so I can see how it was accomplished. I know either the Newport or Bert's unit will work but I would prefer to use a unit that looks a bit more original like. Now, can anyone help me?

Nurex makes one that is set up to fit the model A but that may be one of the types Bert's has. I don't know of anyone that makes any the originals. Maybe someone else has a line on one. You can by an Owen-Dyneto cover and frame but you would have to take the guts from a late type and make it work.

You say you want it to look like it belongs but you want to mount it on the inside, the
original mounted on the outside vacuum or electric.

I sent you a picture of the Newport unit. It does mount inside like you want.
