Default speedo cable which end goes in first?

Does the end of the inner speedometer cable with the small brass clamp about 1 inch from the end belong on the speedometer or dash side of the cable housing, or on the torque tube, turtle gear side?

Unfortunately my original speedo cable square end started to unravel just as I was getting ready to install it and I now need another one. It is different length than the ones from Bratton's etc.

If someone has an original/NOS speedometer cable insert for a round speedo with square ends, I am interested in buying. Thanks

Thanks

Inner Cable goes into flex housing from upper (speedo end) with larger end near speedo.

If you grease inner cable leave the upper 3-4 inches free of grease so grease does not get into speedo housing.

Per Jim Brierley in recent post.

Default Speedo cable insert wanted, which end goes in first?

Thanks. I am going to use mostly a lot of graphite with maybe a film of white lithium grease and will not have anything at all too close to the speedo as it was too expensive to ruin with grease as you and others mention.

Thanks. Yes they do have a lot of cables especially for AA trucks.

I talked with them and they went all around and believe they found one the original size that should work!

Very excellent company.
