Re: What to look for in a Car trailer
Kaufman makes a nice tilt bed in Neb. that is a balanced bed also. Mine is a WW which is a good tilt bed but it takes two people to load if you drive on the trailer. A Kaufman is a one man deal.

Re: What to look for in a Car trailer
I have not had many trailers and never a closed one (I never had a 3/4 ton or better truck to pull one - an added expense I could not afford), but I always hated ramps. They make too much noise, are a pain to attach, etc. So, I bought, for want of a better term, a "Texas rollback". The entire bed of the trailer tilts on rollers and a pivot point. First, there is a wheel lock mechanism that locks the brakes, a release by the tongue, and you back up your truck to tilt the trailer. It will only go so far, you load your car and then pull the truck forward until the trailer is back level, set the pin on the tongue, release the brake, tie the vehicle down and you are ready to go. It was by far the easiest trailer to load I have ever seen. I used an air dam up front as well. It did require a little more maintenance than most but when other were struggling to load their cars in bad weather, I was done and gone. It also towed very well loaded or unloaded.
I've read that the company had a fire and was no longer producing them but if you google texas rollback you should find a few sources, new or used, around. Good luck in your search ..... |
