Default It's Time A Owners Apologize

I love these old A's but really we, collectively, need to apologize to the rest of the old car world.

People gravitate to them more than most other cars at any show...sorry
People think they are worth thousands more than they are........... sorry
Parts are readily available and the cars are fun to drive.................sorry
I can let my grand kids jump all over the car and laugh.................sorry
I can fix it most of the time with a hammer and a smack...............sorry

We in the A Clubs know the rest of the old car world worries, watches the weather, and carefully plans that the trailered queen they call a car doesn't wake up when the pea is under the mattress. We however, have a more intimate relationship, we love these cars and make them love us too...WE DRIVE EM LIKE THEY WERE BUILT TO BE OWNED...sorry.

And they are a car that does not need a big expensive sound system. The music is built in. If you have to turn on a radio you have bought the wrong car. Sorry.

Nothing beats the sound of Model A idling.

I read in another post on this forum last week, someone describing the Model A idle as "Cadillac". Made me smile. Who needs a Caddy? Already got one!

Doesn't help when your coupe is black. Just adds to the above about the Model T, "You can get it in any color as long as it is black".

Feel like I need a license plate that says "Not A T!"

I've had people express surprise that my A is not black - everybody knows they only came in black! Even for the Model T, that was not true over here anyway. Seems the American "any colour so long as it's black" thing gained traction here even though Model Ts were available in about 6 colours.
Some BS never dies.

Only thing I apologize for is, I ain't drivin' faster than 40 MPH on the highway, so they may as well enjoy seeing the back of the Roadster!

Never really had anyone get too upset most people wave and honk as they blow me into the dust passing me!

It's not very often anybody gets upset about the lower speed of these cars. I think people expect them to be slower. So long as I show them the courtesy of moving over when I can, they are 99.99% of the time, fine. There is just the occasional impatient fool.

I think we've all heard that. Ah, the unwashed multitudes!
