Default Moved to V8 Forum

I’m confused.

I bought a generator, it is a two brush.
It has a 3-5/8 threaded fan mount pulley.
The front cover is 01A-1016
The body is V12 (Dec 1941?)

The two brush generator was first used in 38 or 39. I understand the fan mount pulley was last used on the 39 std model. The generator I was looking for was a 39 Standard with the pressed-on (with nut) fan mount pulley.
Is this a 1941 generator with an earlier pulley?

This will serve my needs but I would like to understand what I have in hand.
Thanks y’all

Maybe more detailed knowledge on the early V8 Forum?

McM....
I can install the internals from a 12V generator into the 39 std generator for a 12v conversion on my 1935 sedan an retain the fan mounted on the generator.

PS. moved to V8 side :-0

the 39 std i had was equipped with a 3 brush generator, that pulley was held on by a nut.
generator parts got mixed around during rebuilding.
there were 2 brush generators made for retrofit in place of a 3 brush.
what are you looking to do, can you post pictures of what you have.

The difference is how pulley is mtd. 39 std has a key and a nut and the shaft is larger than the earlier cutout gens. Some fan mt pulleys are threaded instead of having a key, if you use one of those, the armature shaft must be long enough to put a locknut in front of the pulley.

The two brush gen allows for the use of a voltage regulator.
I was thrown off by the combination, bec. no gen fan was used in 1941.
The conversion is less complicated with the larger shaft armature. This one can be used by using 12v field coils.
