Default 1934 pickup bed

I am missing a bed for my 34 ford fenderless hotrod. I dont want new. If anyone has a lead on a 31 widebed t0 1936 bed anything in that range please let me know. Also wondering if anyone ever had success using a later 37-48 bed and narrowing it for earlier use. I dont know if a 1936 bed-front and tailgate would fit to narrow a 40-41 for example. any Ideas welcome. I am not really wanting to go the homemade flatbed route. would prefer any older bed with patina preferred as long as it fits. I am in san bernardino $$ in hand. Thanks

Someone made replacement beds, I believe it was Westcote. I think
Westcote reads this forum. G.M.

On another thread someone posted Mack Hil as the person reproducing
the 34 pick/up body and supplies the correct parts. G.M.

Default d-1934 pickup be

I see some new sheet metal beds for $$3000 and up. One company makes beds with blank sides(no embossing) for around $1700 with no floor nor structure. but I really would like and old bed. I am doing "the old farm truck look". all the running gear is old weathered but fully up to spec and tight. I need to come up with the equally weathered/used bed. I could go in the $1000 range for usable weathered bedsides/posts/front panel. I could fab my own structure and get a new tailgate and spray Eastwood red primer and age it a little. So If anyone has some usable bed parts. I expect a few holes, dents and such. what do you guys have for $1000. disassembled used sides front panel posts would make it easier to pick-up. I did look at the photos of a great looking 32 bead in fresno for $600 only problem with the 32( or 31 wide) are they are something like 10-12" too short in front of the wheel centerline. so i am thinkin a 33 thru 36 bed is what I need. and the other wonderment is if the later 37-46 range bed could narrowed some way, maybe using the earlier front panel and tailgate? I was hoping someone might have experience on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am just getting set-up again as the weather is first getting dry and compfortable outside. Got a new silver tarp to put up over for sun shading. I am assembling the vintage dropped front axle w/reverse eyes sprg and dropped arms, and have an F1 box. I added some pics of just before I hauled her home. have couple hundred hours in though since. thanks for any feedback

I have a very nice early Ford bed, not to sure of the year, would say pre '41. The paint appears to be original Lt green Ford. I'll take a pix of the bed today.

Took several pix of the bed I have. It has 46-47 written on the front panel, however the fenders appear to be '35-38, you can see an imprint on the left side panel where the original tear drop fenders were mounted. Bed is 4'6" wide, 6'-7" long, 18" deep. minor rust out in the lower stake pockets. Paint is similar to phone company green. Would not be to hard to cut the bed down, width/length. Script tailgate.
Contact me if you want more info.

I have a bed from Mack Hills in Missouri on my 32 pickup. It is an authentic reproduction and very well made. You can recreate the patina.

Too bad you are so many miles away, I have a pr of 46 sides,a sort of messed up headboard,(top roll is there but they added a flat pc of sheet metal from the roll down) which is bowed toward cab ! Shipping would probably kill ya ?

Finally got around to taking some pix of the bed I have.
The original color is close to telephone company green. The bed was on a trailer chassis when I got it, pretty straight, with minimal rust out in the lower portion of the stake pockets. has a script tail gate. Fenders are '35-38, pattern on bed sides where the original tear drop fenders were mounted.
