Default '46 Ford column shift lever disassembly pin

Need help on how to remove the shift lever from the column shifter "T" joint.
There seems to be a spring loaded cap at the top but not underneath. I want to inspect/ replace all the parts in the assembly going down to the shifter arms at
the lower end. Thanks, Larry
