New To Me 36 Model 51 Dump
Hello everybody, first post: My wife and I recently picked up this 1936 Model 51 Dump.
Starts and runs like champ, I was even able to drive it home. I'll be starting with the standard stuff, a good cleaning / evaluation, typical tune up / oil change, etc. |

Didn't take me long to put it to work. Hauling a couple loads of firewood from a friends house 5 miles away. I was smiling ear to ear when I dumped it, I've had to hand unload until now. |

Re: New To Me 36 Model 51 Dump
great news! looks like it had a wooden cab shield at one time. need to replace that to keep it from getting beat up. i had a wwII chevy dumper years ago, and rite from the day i watched it go out the drive way i thought "why did you sell that? it was one of those ...hardly ever use it...battery always dead...always out of gas...taking up another parking spot, but i sure liked dumping loads!

Re: New To Me 36 Model 51 Dump
Good looking truck. Does it have a 36 engine? Are the waterpumps on the heads or block? As for tune up, if it runs well, starts well, maybe change plugs but do not mess with the distributor until you have read up on it and there is a true need. If it has a 46-8 engine, the distributor is a little easier to work with.

Nice truck! If you want detailed information about parts, what's correct, what's not, general identification stuff, just let me know. I have a collection of parts drawings and information I've collected on Model 51 Ford trucks for over 20 years and am happy to share what I've learned.
