Default cabinet media...

now that it's fall.... time to change the compressor oil, check/change the belt and replace the blast media.

Would like some feed back as I might try the TP MAX media, looking for lower dust and the new improved formula claims to be.

Any input would be great and thanks in advance.

In my ScatBlast cabinet I have had for well over 30 years I use #80 garnet for removing paint and rust and glass beads for softer metals. I can dump the hopper and switch fairly quickly and blow the remaining dust into the vacuum system before changing media. After wearing out many of the ceramic nozzles I got a hardened steel one and it has been in there years. Many of the wear items like gloves, lights, windows, vacuum motors and bags I have changed countless times. I now use the peel off sheets on the inside of the glass which makes the window last so much longer.

I use glass in my small bench top thing, used only for pot metal , aluminum, brass, etc. , leaves no trace of violence. steel I try to do with evaporust, 911, or blast outside with sand

I have this same issue in my ScatBlast Cabinet from time to time. I too reverse blow air to clear the clog. I use fine coal slag. I clean my filter pretty regular.

I have a small cheap-o cabinet for glass beading soft metals.

If you look at the TP Max review the author thought that the product broke down too soon and then became very dusty. I use Black Beauty that I can get at the local big box store but it can be pretty aggressive. I always keep some that has been used so its not over kill for softer metals.
