I have the 8 blade plastic one that Snyders sells. Takes a bit of fitting to get it on without it trouching the hosuing after you start the engine, but I like it. I drive my car not just look at it, so it was a good choice for me. I had a 4 blade, but took it off. I have a 2 blade, but have never used it.

Aluminum 2 blade fan is the only way to go if you drive the car.

I have installed aluminum 2-blade fans on both of my cars. Bought them. From Brattons and neither needed any modification to fit without rubbing.

Hello, have the aluminum 2 blade from Snyders, being a casting, it is thicker around the pulley area and sometimes the water pump will need ground down for clearance. This might be dependent on the reproduction water pumps, if the machining isn’t centered on the cast pump.

Same here. Some minor filing on the pump snout to take down some small imperfections and it was good to go and performing great.

My Tourer is a DRIVER and I take a different view and run one of those plastic fans. I figure it's less likely to break and if it does, the light weight piece of plastic that comes off won't do much (if any) damage. On my less driven car, I have the aluminium fan.

I mean I have yet to hear of an aluminum fan breaking since it is a one piece casting that is pretty thick and light.

I mounted the aluminum propeller. It works well and with less noise. The original sheet iron part had cracks on the hub.

Wink Re: Who has the best replacement fan ?

I've got one of early repo aluminum 2-blade fans. I got it off of greed-Bay.
After receiving it and checking it out I could tell by sight alone that the design was flawed. Plus I'm sure it was unbalanced. Now just a peg board ornament.

Can you give us more details on what was flawed about it? You can probably check it for balance like you do lawn mower blades and hang it on a nail. Just a idea anyway.
