I am getting ready to put front disc brakes on my 51 f1.

I was planning on going with the kit from ECI. However, I have read some mixed reviews regarding how their products fits.

I was checking to see if Wilwood sells a kit but cannot find one but thought that they did.

Would welcome opinions on the ECI kit or a part number for a Wilwood kit if one exists. Thanks.

I don't know about those kits, but Speedway Motors makes one that uses off the shelf parts. What I don't like about a lot of disc brake conversion kits is you have to buy that companies parts. At least with the Speedway kit, it uses 70's GM Calipers and 70's-90's Ford F100 rotors. (Part # 916-31986)
On my 41 Tudor I am going with the Speedway kit.

Take a look at the kit from Magnum Axle Co, in Fresno ,Ca.

Try Chassis Engineering. They did make a kit that uses the bigger rotors and the bigger GM calipers instead of the smaller metric calipers. I used one on a truck chassis to get the 5.5 bp and it worked really good with a manual MC.

Yes, I had a problem with the bearing adapter in the ECI kit. However,I have a lathe and the fix was quite easy. Now that could be just one considence, because others have had no trouble. The ECI kit uses all OEM parts.

On my 41 Tudor I am going with the Speedway kit.

Just did my 41 woodie with speedway kit. Works fine.

I'm kinda old school, but mostly cheap and never buy the kits. I buy these cheap brackets, modify them to bolt to the spindle.

Often you can use your old hub and just fit an off the shelf rotor hat over it, like I did on the econoline axle in my rpu. For those applications where that isn't possible, like on my buddys 37 Ford pickup, we just used an S-10 rotor. Get the spindle measurements, the hub measurements and go to the bearing store for a bearing and seal. On the 37 spindles with S-10 torors we did have to have a spacer machined. Even with all new parts, this is maybe a $200 mod.
