Default 49 wagon clutch size

What diameter clutch was used for wagons (woodies)
10 or 11 inch?

According to the Fordbarn thread below 10 in. was the most common used in station wagons.
11 inch was for trucks.

Read about it here.

They would have had the regular 9.5” clutch but 10” was optional. In either case, both had the 1” x 10 spline hub in the disc. They never came with an 11” clutch……that would have been overkill, and furthermore, it would not fit in the bell housing.

Ford did use the 10-inch Long type for some wagons and police cars in the 8BA era but most were on the F1 pickups. The 9.5 Long type was the most common for 8BA Fords. Mercury used the Borg & Beck type 10-inch clutch. Only 4-speed trucks used the 11-inch for the most part. Mercury and Ford pickups used the 1 3/8" 10-spline input same as early Ford.
