New aries muffler
Has any one had a problem with installing an original muffler pipe clamp on the aries muffler ? Mine seems way too tight. Muffler pipe diameter is a little bigger than the one i took off that i bought 40 years ago. Im talking about the frame clamp. Thanks

Re: New aries muffler
I used a new clamp sold by Snyder's and didn't tighten it too much. There must be a little looseness on the tailpipe as the pipe has to expand and contract due to the heat. The pipe is liable to crack at the weld behind the muffler if it's clamped too tightly.

Re: New aries muffler
I bought an aries from tams a few months ago at a flee market. They are weird, but I loosend the rear clamp a bit and ran it for a while and its fine now. Just my two cents; m I also have a 30.

Re: New aries muffler
I would 2ed the get the proper clamp from Aries. They are the proper size and made for that brand. I only quickly saw the one that was put on the car we have in the shop. They have a lining in them.

Re: New aries muffler
First thing to realize about this clamp, is that their are currently 8 rear tailpipe clamps being made. We do not know which one you have. If it has a square hole and a carriage bolt, then it is a cheap Chinese one. Throw it away. Buy a good one that uses a bolt with a castle nut and cotter pin, as you do NOT want it tight. The tailpipe /muffler assembly grows by roughly an inch when it gets warm, and must slide in that rear bracket or it will bend at the front and leak.
