Re: ´28 vs ´29
Rolf I have a 29 Roadster and I have been told the 28 & 29 top irons are the same and definitely different from the 30/31 so I am surprised that someone said they fit 29-31. Take a look at the website for vendors and in particular the LeBaron Barney website and online catalog and you will see what I mean. If you find some and they need new wood drop me a note and I can give you some tips as I have already done this. Have fun - they are great cars.

Re: ´28 vs ´29
1928 and 1929 roadsters use the same top assembly.
The 1930 and 1931 roadsters are either Standard or DeLuxe and each type shares a top assembly different from each other and different from 1928-29.. Too help identify your roadster exact year, if made in USA it very likely, but not 100%, has a date stamped on the engine side of the firewall, above the seam. also above the steering column if left hand drive. Also 1928 roadsters did not have outside door handles and if my memory is right the changeover to outside door handles was early February 1929. The Judging Standards will have this date but mine are currently not available to me. |

Re: ´28 vs ´29
Interesting! My 29 roadster has out side door handles. Based on a couple of other things I thought it was a later model so this tidbit helps. Back then did they start to produce the next year models in September like now or did the were the 29's actually started in January??

Also measure the height of the stanchions as if you have a rod, the stanchions could be chopped. |

Same with my 29 Roadster. My understanding was that it was the 28 Roadster/RPU that didn't have outside doorhandles. David Serrano |

Re: ´28 vs ´29
no 28-29 open pickups had outside handles. check the Restoration/ Judging manual.

Re: ´28 vs ´29
The forward iron of the 28 roadster top WAS about an inch shorter than the 29 forward iron, giving the back of the tops a different angle. A search should show a diagram of the difference. So no both tops were not the same.
