Default New Guy from NC

I have been enjoying this site for several years and thank everyone for sharing there knowledge. I have learned so much.
My story begins with my Dad who always wanted a 40 Ford Coupe. I have kept my eyes open for years looking for one I could afford so that I could surprise him with his dream car.
Several years ago a barn find 40 Deluxe found me and I bought it for my Dad as a surprise Christmas present. The car was in several shades of primer/old paint. A buddy sprayed the car in black primer and replaced the fuel tank.
My avatar is a picture of the car in Dads driveway Christmas morning 2008.
"I've waited over 60 years for one of these" my Dad said. Wish I had a video of his face when he went out to check the car out. He sat in the car for awhile before we could get him to come back in the house.
Unfortunately my Dads health took a turn for the worse and we were not able to work on the car together. Alot needs to be done to make it road worthy.
My Dad passed away in March of 2009. He got to enjoy his dream car for a little while. I will continue to restore the car a he would have wanted and am thankful to have found you guys.
Sorry for the long post. I'm not a computer guy so this is a record for me.
Happy New Year!

Thanks for the kind words Hillbilly Bob. At least I get to think of my Dad when I'm working on the car. Spent the entire Christmas break on the front suspension. Brakes next. As I said I'm not a computer guy but, will see if I can post some pictures.

Great story. You truly are a great son for presenting your Dad with his dream car. Every time you work on it, or drive it, it will bring you sweet memories of your Dad.

Thank you gentlemen for the kind words. I do feel a connection with my Dad when working on the car. I'll try and post a picture of him in it that Christmas morning.

You will remember him every time you look at the car, never sell it, pass it on to your son or daughter if you have children.

Thanks for the kind responses guys. It means alot to me. Even though my Dad didn't have the car for a long time, there is a connection their. I am working on my computer skills to try and post more pictures. I have been lurking on the site long enough to realise the value of pictures (especially when asking for help.)

I can understand exactly what your dad was going through. I too wanted a forty coupe for it seemed like forever. I was one happy camper when I go mine and I know how your dad felt. So sorry for your losse. The car will bring back so many happy memories. I bet he is happy as a lark now watching you work on his dream.

You might not be a computer guy, nor are most of us; however, even better is that you're a flathead guy! Congratulations, welcome to the club, great story.
