Default '53 Door Latch

I have a '53 Ford Customline 2 door that I am working on for a friend, and the gear part of the driver's door latch is VERY loose. I tried searching for a replacement door latch, but can't seem to find one anywhere. I can find plenty for up to '52 and '55 and newer. I can also find plenty for the '53 and '54 trucks, but not the cars.

Has anyone had success with someone rebuilding the door latches? If not, does anyone know where I can find replacements?

Thanks for your help.

If you are a V-8 Club member use your roster and look up Craig Gorris in Ohio or Ray Beebe in New York. They wrote the 1952-53 book for the V-8 Club. I'm sure they could help. If you do not have their book it can be purchased at; www.earlyfordv8.org

Dennis Carpenter in North Carolina has them. HRP
