Default Emergency Brake Rods

I took mine off and didn't keep track of their orientation, regarding the offset bend in them(up or down). On one side the anti-rattlers won't go over the stud on the radius rod and the other side doesn't seem right either.

Help!

All brake rods are straight no bends. If they have to be bent to fit something is installed wrong or were bent to take up slack. Does not matter which type anti-rattlers you use, the cupped oval hole end goes on the rods the small round hole gets mounted to the R rods. They should be installed to push the rods towards the cross shafts.

I wondered about the offset in a tension rod! Rather than straightening them, new ones seems like a better idea.

RedmodelT is right on! All brake rods work in tension. If they are bent, a significant amount of the brake pedal force goes into straightening the bends rather than applying the brakes.

Shouldn't be hard to take them off and straighten them should it.

I'd never considered the lost force of braking due to straighting the rod first, nice reply.
