seat belts
any one know if 1956 ford fairlane would have any factory provisions built into them for seat belt installation? I know they were an option just wondering if all cars had any mounting points in the floor.
Thanks Bill |

Re: seat belts
I believe '56 was the first year Fomoco offered seat belts as an option, but to my knowledge there were no factory knockouts in the floor panels for mounting. Apparently all seat belts back then were dealer installed. They punched holes in the floor and mounted the belts using big washers under the floor panels.
Be careful that you don't drill a hole through the floor in an area where a floor support structure is located underneath. |

Re: seat belts
There was an installation kit that used special brackets and had a spec sheet with measurements where to drill the holes.
I have an NOS kit and a copy of the sheet somewhere.

Re: seat belts
Drill a small hole up from the bottom, then make it bigger from the top to avoid what Dave said in post two. Don't buy the cheap ones. I had some that unhooked themselves when I hit a bump. I then bought from Juliano's, a bit more money, but very nice to use.

Re: seat belts
I tried blowing it up first to see if it would post better but it didn't. I have a better scan somewhere as well as a paper copy. Still looking.

Re: seat belts
Is that an original FORD accessory set? Can you either show or post the FORD Part Number?

Re: seat belts
For whatever reason something is limiting the file size when uploading them.

Re: seat belts
Try uploading the images one at a time. Sometimes if you select more than one image, and their file size is a bit large, uploading them at the same time seems to push the Barn server upload function past it's limit.

Re: seat belts
I can’t help with placement, but we just put a set of Juliano’s belts in my buddy’s 56 Nomad. First class stuff, buy the mounting hardware too.
Some years ago I bought the “correct” belts for a 56 for my 55 bird. Had the correct green color, and the fabric to metal buckle. I did not spend the uptick for the “Ford” logo on the buckle. They were expensive, but also first class. I’m not sure they show on the site, so try calling. http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/mm5/merchant.mvc |

Re: seat belts
I'll see if the box has the part number. That was the photo I saved from the original listing.

Re: seat belts
Here's a photo of the box with the part number.
Something's not right with the upload process here. It only uploaded as a 33.3K file while the original photo size is 1.1M. It also uploaded rotated while it shows correctly for my computer. While it's adequate for this photo it does not allow for the full resolution of the installation instructions.
