car vs truck cranks
I just picked up a 8ba style motor and the crank flang that the flywheel bolts to is at least twice as thick as my mercurys crank. Is there a difference in car and truck cranks? Buy the date stamped in the motor its from 1953.

Re: car vs truck cranks
I don't think there's ment to be a difference. But I've seen all sorts of odd business going on with the cranks, some have Big cuts on the front of the front counterweight to clear up front. Seems like sometimes the crank wasn't located properly in s machining jig, and all the machine work was further back, or forward than its ment to be. Maybe, just a thought I had.
I think if you measure the flange face to bell face hight, if it's the same as another You have with the thinner flange, your good to go. Martin. |
