A little progress

Haven't posted much since I joined but finally making a little progress on my 47. In the process of rebuilding the front end and replacing my tired flathead. I know Henry made some quality spring hanger bushings because I had a time removing them. Still had FORD and USA on the bushings. Sticking with the original three speed trans for now. Probably will be driven mostly local anyway. Maybe a quick drive to Tulsa but I can go Route 66. I've read posts on recommended oil but was thinking maybe some Valvoline VR-1 30 for break-in.

Nice lookin' all around. As to special break-in oil, I don't use it. I like to change the oil and filter at around 50 and 500 miles. I'm kinda' cheap and would hate to see all if that expensive oil in the drain pan after a couple of hours use.

Why spend thousands of dollars on a new engine and not break it in correctly? The first few miles on a new engine are critical. Use the break-in oil.

I was trying to stay with an oil with a higher zinc content on break-in, if possible. I see some say they use 10-30W oil.

It's a Magnum 4 inch dropped axle with a 3 inch Posie spring.
The axle was a great fit with no problems.

I haven't yet. We have planned on trying to heat my arms but if this doesn't work correctly, I'll will buy the Magnum arms.

IMHO the best axles are the originals that are dropped!
