Default 1939 Ford Windshield gasket

Does anyone put a SMALL bead of something like 3M Bedding in the groove where the gasket locks into?

I've done this job twice. No nothing in the groove. Soapy water or glass cleaner to help things along. Proper install will make the seal.

I am talking about the pop out windshield.
