Cowl lacing - oil?
Have a hell of a sweak in my cowl area, do you reccomend oiling up the cowl lacing?
Mine is a few years old but seems dry and stiff, you can see where it rubs/sits with the hood, I'm thinking this is where the noise is coming from. Oil---yes---no

Re: Cowl lacing - oil?
I don’t know if never heard of oiling the cowl lacing. Try rubbing some bar soap just to see if the squeak goes away. It not a permanent fix but just to hear it that’s fixes the squeak

I wouldn't use motor oil, but maybe neatsfoot oil, which is used to waterproof and soften up shoe leather. Available at Ace Hardware.

Re: Cowl lacing - oil?
The candle seemed to help, but now I can't close my hood.
But the soap worked wonders.

Re: Cowl lacing - oil?
Maybe dust a little powdered graphite on the lacing.

Re: Cowl lacing - oil?
Go to Menards or your local store that sells toilet setting rings. They are made from bee's wax and are the same thing as the Door-Ease sticks, but only cost a couple bucks for much more bee's wax. Rub that on the lacing.

Re: Cowl lacing - oil?
Wondering if the hood latches need some work? More tension making the noise go away?
