Default 1929 Trunk Rack?

I have a old looking Trunk Rack on my 1929 Phaeton. I would like to know what Make and Type this Trunk Rack is. I also would like to know how to fold it. At present it doesn't fold........ Perhaps is is installed incorrectly? Pictures of similar Racks WELCOME!

I can't say much about the rack, but, that hubcap looks to be early 28.
Does it has a star under the ford insignia?
We spent 20 years trying to find a good set of these caps. Have a complete set now. But I can't help but notice them if I see them.. Jeff

Looks like the same rack I have on our '29 Roadster. I believe it actually was a Ford option at that time, maybe a dealer option? There should be a finger pull in the middle which you pull up on and it folds in two. If it hasn't been folded for awhile it could be really stiff, I oil mine each year to keep it flexible.

There is no start under the Ford insignia. Under the Ford insignia there is: Made in USA.

Thumbs up Re: 1929 Trunk Rack?

msmaron,

Your 1929 Ford trunk rack is different than Ford1930's trunk rack. His is probably an aftermarket rack from Western Auto or some other accessory
vendor from back in the day.

YES mine is an original but the pics might assist him in seeing how it folds and works as he asked.

Spray some Kroil on all moving parts and wait a few hours.
