brake light switch
The vendors sell brake light switches at approx. $50 (USA made) and $6.
Has anyone noted a difference in operation / performance between them and mating to the brake pedal rod ? |

Re: brake light switch
If someone went out of their way to retool, find a place willing to make them, research blueprint specs, find materials suitable, and have them made theres a very good reason. Do you REALLY want a flaky brake light switch? Its a safety item for you your passengers and other motorists.
Now if someone could do the same for a quality ammeter...

Re: brake light switch
A & L makes a great switch, with a bronze bushing that will never stick.

Usually the switch isn't hard to fix.

Re: brake light switch
Thanks Terry; is A&L still in business? I heard the owner passed away.
I'm curious whether the 10x cost justifies a comparison. |

Re: brake light switch
A&L still going strong. His son took over the business. No web site BUT they do answer the phone.

Re: brake light switch
The A&L switch is the best. Worth the money and you won't have problems with it. Case closed.

Re: brake light switch
The $6.00 switch is junk. I through the one I bought away and got the better switch. I still had to do some work to make it work well.

Re: brake light switch
The cheap switch I bought would stick leaving my brake lights lit. Lithium grease helped, however I have the replacement in hand and it will be on before my next run around the block.

Re: brake light switch
Will try A&L again, no answer. I forgot to ask how much is their brake switch?

Re: brake light switch
I don't remember the cost, as I bought mine over 10 years ago, after our Tom Endy suggested buying from A&L. It has a pre-lubricated bronze bushing, which the others don't. Usually the best is worth paying more for....
