Default 1953 Wiring Harness Question

I Have a 1953 Mainline

Not wanting any problems ( or at least trying to reduce them )
Want to replace all the wiring Harness's on the car.

I haven't started the build yet still gathering parts as $$$$ Allows

How many Harness's make up a complete wiring job.
Not just the # but the names / Dash to engine (etc)

Thanks
BILL W

Go here (Rhode Island wire) to look up info on your car. Will give various harnesses and price.

Hi Bill, in the '53 (if I remember correctly) there are three different wiring sections, the primary (under dash, through firewall to generator, voltage regulator, horn relay), the secondary headlight, parking light and last the tail light, back up light, trunk light, and fuel sending unit. We have a Crestline so the primary harness also has accommodations for turn signals and accessory (spor lights) included in the harness. Hope this helps. Vic

Bill, I have a complete list. This system failed to upload my PDF, so you can PM me with your e-mail address, and I'll send it that way.

Cheers!

If you are not worried abut show quality you might check out universal wiring kits such as Speedway etc. I have wired quite a few cars, some from scratch, some from kits, some from original harness replacements. If you get a wiring diagram of your vehicle it is not that difficult, I would recommend many different colors of wire. My first new car was a 54 mainline.

Yes I can use them,Although I assume what ever wire Harness I decide to buy will have theres it would be nice to have the Factory Diagrams to compare them to.

THANKS RICHARD

Gary.
I just completed a total rewire on my 53 Customline using a 12 circuit kit from EZ Wiring. It was pretty easy and headache free since all wires are different colors and labeled every 5 inches as to where it should go.

I would recommend Tyree Harris on wiring harnesses. Great guy, great product. 804-556-5200

I ordered completely new wiring from C&G for my 53 Customline. Their prices were lower for some harnesses and no higher for the rest of the harnesses. I am happy with the wires. The wiring diagrams supplied with the wires were not very good, but the factory wiring diagram sorted that out nicely.

I recently bought a 1953 Ford Crestline Victoria. Am in need of a complete engine harness re-wiring. What did you eventually go with? Does someone have a complete electrical wiring diagram?
