Default Help please in fitting rear bumpers to Ute. (Pickup)

It is not my practice to drive my A’s at night but on one occasion I did. Myself in ute and my tourer following. The crew in my tourer reported a vehicle passing them and the failure of this overtaking vehicle to see me. It was reported the overtaking vehicle had to break severely.
I figured it would make sense to add lights to the back by fitting rear bumper bars on which to attach them.
So I went ahead and purchased these and attachment irons from and unknown A and expected them to bolt on without difficulty. Well I was mistaken and they remain unfitted.
Has any reader overcome this in a simple way? If so I’d be pleased and grateful to hear from you.
