36 Fordor Door Pin Removal
I’m going to work on my 36 this week and wonder if there are any secrets to removing door hinge pins? I have the pin removal tool but it only works if the pin is loose. I will saturate with lubricant but wonder if heat would help. If so where should it be mostly applied?

I have found that you have better luck if you grind the head off the top drill down about 1/4 inch heat up and punch it down.

Re: 36 Fordor Door Pin Removal
I use an air hammer with a bit ground down to just below the pin diameter. I pad the body with tape and hold the hammer with a gloved hand, start off with about 30 lbs but go up if nothing moves. this only works if you have the running boards off. the top of the pin has the serrations that hold the pin in, but obviously rust is a big factor.

If you have a helper available; a heavy bar held on the opposite side you are pounding from keeps more energy concentrated in the hinge.

Re: 36 Fordor Door Pin Removal
I just removed the final hinge pin on my 19050 F1. I got the first pin out with no problems. The next 3 pins were problems. First I soaked the pins with PB Blaster and 50/50 mix or ATF and acetone for about a month. I ground a chisel for my impact gun to fit the pin hole and blasted away. Eventually, the pin started to move, so I drove it back down. Up and down , up and down, each time it went up further. Lots of penetrating oil, heat and quench drive up and down and after a few days the last pin came out. The BIG problem is rust.
