Correct, but the link also states that the "C18" prefix was dropped in '37. That should help narrow it down SOMEWHAT. I see a C18X for '36. Just thinking out loud. Obviously a "Commonwealth-built" number, and most likely left hand drive. DD

The rear transmission mount and emergancy brake lever are '35-'36. The shift tower looks to be '36 - '38. Wire brush the flat area on shifter top to read part number. Should be 68-××××. Remove the shift tower from the top of the case and post a picture of the gears. '35 would have straight cut teeth on first/reverse slide gear and reverse idler gear. On '36 and later, these gears would have helical cut teeth. Also, check the part number cast into the back of the case. 48-×××× was used in '35 -'36, 78-×××× was used in '37 and later.

36 is the only year with the coarse spline sliding gear if that helps.

Late '36 with fine teeth on the first and reverse sliding gear and output shaft (as compared to the courser teeth on the early '36 transmission).

All pictures confirmed '36 to me except for the fine spiral splines on output shaft and DavidG explained that as being late '36 which I didn't know because I had only seen those fine splines in transmissions manufactured after '36.

I must say you guys are great. I figured to have it dated to within a couple of years and to have it dated to late 36 is awesome. Now I just need to figure out what to do with it. It came with the V-12. Would it be a decent trans for that motor??? Thanks guys Bill
