Default Emergency brake cables...

What diameter is the e-brake cable on cars with hydraulics? (All of my brake parts are in my trailer.) Can I cut the cable and braze a fitting onto the two halves? I'm working on my AV8 project and I'm using a '32 e-brake handle, Model A e=brake cross shaft and connect the cables to that cross shaft. Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Not sure about the diameter. I would not braze the cable together but use wire rope crimps. I cut my e-cable on my 1940 Ford rear-end and cable and needed to shorten it for my 32.

Here is the Home Depot tool for example

Okay, I tried to measure my 40 e-cable. It is tricky to measure. I get 5/32"/4mm which is a standard wire rope size.

You can use the stock 46-48 p-brake cable which is shorter for the AV8 and 32 guys - got that tip from AV8 Garage onnthis forum I think it was called. Then you can use the 49Fird horseshoe hooked to the 28-32 park brake handle .....

I'm not familiar with '49 Ford brake parts. Got a diagram? Thanks!
