Default carburator leak ???

Hi, guys , i'm working on rebuilding a Zenith 2 carb. its leaking but I don't know why. carb. has been sand blasted , thoroughly cleaned, all the jets were cleaned using a welders tip set, new gaskets installed, I set the float and it stops the gas from coming in as you can see in the pictures. the carb. only leaks when I put the bottom half together, and then from the weep hole at the choke . so I changed the comp. jet but no difference. then I stopped to ask advise. any ideas you can suggest?.

ditto on gasket the new repos (some) are wide in the front causing the float to hang up.also float should be same measurement sides and front.

Also re-check that the lower half isn't leaking... put on level surface fill with fuel to about 1/2 inch below lip and observe ... I use a very small smear of Blue Hylomar (if you have that in USA) on the jet gaskets; the gaskets are new but the castings are 90+ yrs old!

What float valve do you have installed and is it leaking just sitting or when starting(which would be normal when priming)? Could be the float valve is not sealing or not seated to body of carb and has an weep.

If fuel is leaking from the small weep hole at the bottom of the lower casting it is likely because the float valve is not shutting off completely. This allows the fuel level in the reservoir to slowly rise. As it does the fuel level in both the main jet and cap jet also rise until fuel spills over the top of the jets and runs down to the weep hole.

You can easily test it with the rig you have. After the valve shuts off, place a mark with a marking pen on the side of the glass and let it sit for a while and see if the fuel level rises.

I use the Viton tip float valves Bratton's sell, and have had good luck with them shutting off completely.
