Gear oil

I want to use 140 gear oil. The major company's do not have straight 140.
O'reilly, Pep Boys and Walmart do in their brand name. Anyone have opinion of how good the brand name ones are?

Straight grade lubes are getting harder to source. Restoration Supply Co. carries the Lubriplate SPO series straight grade lubricants as well as Penrite oils. Lubriplate products can be purchased from many bearing supply companies as well.

Sta-Lube is still the easiest option since it is carried by NAPA and other parts supply companies.

Many go to 140 to lessen leakage. In a worn transmission, it sometimes helps shifting by slowing down the cluster gear. With few exceptions, today's oil and greases are light years ahead of the kind available when the vehicles were new.

Sta-Lube 140 is easy to come by and it works,

I use 80-90 from NAPA in trans, O/D and rear axle and steering box. Make things easy and no leaks
