Default steering wheel position ?

With out my taking it apart, anyone know if the wheel is keyed or splined on a 46 Ford pickup ? The two spokes are north and south instead of east and west like I think they should be.

Keyed wheel so it only goes on one way. I think the only solution is to adjust the drag link .

Could possibly have the wrong drag link if there is not enough adjustment. Did you put the front axle on jackstands and turn the wheels as far one way to the stop, then count how many turns to get the steering wheel to the other extreme? Then turn the steering wheel back 1/2 the number of turns to center it on the worm gear. Wheels should be straight ahead with about 1/8" toe in. Then adjust the drag link. This assumes your steering box is the correct original and is adjusted correctly. Or you could take it to a front end shop and have it set.
There are steering wheels with more then 1 key slot, I don't know if a 46 pickup is one of them.
