These stats restrict the water flow and your engine will run up near 200 on 85 to 90 degree days. Made lots of tests to find this out. G.M.

I have always thought that ALL V-8's had thermostats starting about 1934 to the present day. I'd be very interested to hear the actual details of all these tests that you ran. Regards, Jim Boehmke |

In my note above, I forgot to mention that I HAVE heard of guys runnnig thermostats and DID have heat problems, But in all cases, the radiator was not doing an adequite job of cooling. I'm all Ears, Jim |

I have been running NOS 160 stats for 10 years with no over heating. Again these are the old original style stats.
