No gas to engine still
Fuel pressure is fine. gas flows to inlet on carburetor. needle valve free and clear, float moves just fine when top is off carburetor. Something is holding it up once it's put together. No scrape marks on inside of float bowl. runs for 2 minutes, then no gas in float bowl. Any brainy ideas? Thanks. Mel

No brainy ideas yet, but PLEASE don't start a NEW thread if it pertains to the same subject. Too much can get lost in the scattered confusion. DD

Re: No gas to engine still
Some thoughts.
Rebuild the carburetor making sure that the float and needle valve move very freely. Install a new carburetor. I would say there's something binding the float. Is it possible that the float is becoming unattached from its hinged point? Do you have another carb you could take apart for comparison? What year model engine and type of carb are you using? |

Drizzle gas down as it runs and see if it keeps running ,this may tell you were to look next, Power valve leak down ? , Ted

Re: No gas to engine still
A leak in the fuel line between the tank and the pump will cause it to suck air, not gas. Crazy idea, might check though.

Re: No gas to engine still
I just had a problem with a fuel pressure regulator between pump and carb intermittently shutting off fuel. I finally confirmed the fault by bypassing the regulator with a rubber hose. You might try a similar approach bypassing anything you suspect. Also, have you tried it with the gas cap off to verify vent is not clogged? Two minutes doesn't seem like enough fuel would be moved out of tank to cause problem but its easy and free to check.

Re: No gas to engine still
All good things to check. Carb is rebuilt, float moves freely, no skid marks on inside of float bowl, no air leaks, no pressure regulator. I'll check the power valve, and I do have another rough looking carb to try on it. thanks for all the suggestions!

Re: No gas to engine still
Your first post mentions a tank "coating", could some of that stuff be loose and sucked to the pickup ?
Rig another tank and see how it runs. |
