Default Crusty Flathead Friday pt18: Assembly continues. Pistons etc.

Hi. Thanks for checking out my latest offering. My editing software threw a wobbly and I had to do quite a work around to get this one out. The crusty flatty build continues with the pistons and rods. I share a few observations on piston ring placement and get the big ends all buttoned up. Plenty more to come, check in next time to see more progress being made.

No need to fuss over ring gap placement as the rings rotate in their grooves when the engine is running. Other than concern about not catching a ring on the relief during installation, no need to worry about where the ring gaps are. Believe it or not, but some people actually think an engine won't start or run if the ring gaps are lined up! Poppycock! Just an old myth!

Mart, are the people going crazy over there over the virus? They are stripping the grocery stores here.

I wouldn't say going crazy, but we did go to a shop today and some of the shelves were empty. Toilet rolls and hand sanitizer were the sell out items. Most people seem to be being sensible though and sticking to the keep calm and carry on ethos.
Mart.
