Default Hole in the block?

Just confirming, that the hole found in the front of the valve chamber immediately behind the cam gear is supposed to be there? About a two by two inch hole in the casting. I question it, because it seems it is to low to allow oil to overflow into the middle and rear oil reservoirs.

It is there on purpose as an overflow to the cam gear. I don't know the spec height but it should have a curb. I built mine up a bit with J-B Weld just to make sure it wasn't too low because it had an irregular shape. I evened it off across the top.

The hole is supposed to be there. The casting is thin at this hole and is (or was) broken out at the time it was removed from the molds and the sand removed. All of the holes are rough around the edges.
