Default 39 Frame- Worn wishbone socket

The front wishbone ball socket on my 39 frame is toast. I was considering using pieces of a Model A two piece socket as a repair. Does anyone sell a patch kit, or is this the suggested fix? Otherwise I'd have to fabricate one and weld it in.

Thanks in advance, this is the BEST place for advice on this old iron!

Could you not just use a second lower part as a new upper seat? Bolts in and a couple of decent weld beads would make sure it doesn't move. Slightly longer bolts might be needed.

Can I just check.. You do realise there is a rubber ball used in that location?

Mart.

Yes, I have purchased another cover and a rubber cover. I was just curious what others say.

Can you find one off a junk frame and just replace it? Wouldn’t 35-40 ball socket all be the same?

I guess that’s what I’m trying to do. Not many left in the rust belt.

VIN Numbers are stamped on the left frame rail...
I like the two caps idea. Or the model a parts.

Don't think the Model A parts will work as they didn't use the rubber ball
like the later Ford's. The aftermarket rubber ball for the Model A's used cast
upper and lower metal parts.

I ordered a handful of pieces. I’ll post a photo before and after when it’s fixed.

Wow. To call that Toast, insults toast. Waiting on some "after" photos.

V8: Your engineering is super nice. Does your repair change the castor angle?
