Gap in hood
I have a moderately severe gap at the rear of my hood. I have read past post about shimming the cowl, but my doors look about level. I suspect that the radiator is too high. What do you think and what do I have to do to lower it? I am old and can't get under the car easily. This is on my '29 Tudor.

Re: Gap in hood
Just a guess, but if the hood gap is on the top and the sides equally it means the radiator has to come back. Maybe you could shorten the top radiator mount rods enough to reduce the gap? If not, maybe the experts here would jump in.
And "Bill" really might tell him to nail it down as "31" says, depending on what Bill's dog tells him. |

Re: Gap in hood
If the gap is wide at the bottom on the drive side. The frame is most likely bent down at the rear motor mount. A lot of frames are bent there as much as 1/4 inch.

Re: Gap in hood
Improper gap can be caused by frame sag, wrong front crossmember, wrong radiator, etc. A picture(s) would help.

Re: Gap in hood
Perhaps the rubber pads between the frame and radiator mounts are too thick making the radiator too tall.

Re: Gap in hood
Mitch,I did have the hood off last year and don't remember it being that far off. Glenn, I just noticed pads between the frame and radiator mount. I don't think they should be there, but not sure. They aren't very thick. I'm going to try shortening the rods tomorrow and will take pics. Thanks to the serious guys
