Electricity source for Water Temp. Gauge light ?
Finally got my Fan Shroud installed on my late '31 Dlx Coupe. Hole in Radiator is now fixed. (Thanks Tom Wessenberg) Now I am ready to install a Water Temperature gauge from the Goose Neck to the Dash Panel. The gauge I have has a provision for a light, so the temp. reading can be done at night. (or "day time", if you live in upper Alaska's Winter).
My question to those of you who have installed a lighted gauge is : "Where to you get the electricity to power the light for the Temp. Gauge ? " |

I tapped off the wire that went back to the tail light.

Re: Electricity source for Water Temp. Gauge light ?
Same here. There is an extra "tang" in the light switch that I used. And I also put the "dash light" (the one under the dash rail on a '31) on the same circuit so that it comes on anytime the lights are on. I can still turn it off with the regular switch, but generally I leave the switch in the "on" position all the time.

Re: Electricity source for Water Temp. Gauge light ?
Geo.T = " Where can I get one (water temp. gauge) ?"
_____________ George - My '31 Coupe still uses the 6 volt system. The water temp. gauges are available just about anywhere; from Model A Parts Houses (Snyders, Brattons, etc.), to your local Auto Parts Store - which is where I got my Steward Warner gauge. However, I just bought another from Bert's Model A Center (Denver, CO), to go into my '28 Phaeton. Of the two he offers, I bought the APCO model because it's gauge face most closely resembles my original (non-working) "MotoMeter" gauge. ------------------------------------------------------- And to Bill, I must agree. Also, If I need to see the water gauge at night, all I have to do is turn on my overhead cabin light (one of the 'Deluxe' features on a Deluxe Coupe). However, as has been often said - " It ain't about need -- it's about want." |
